Seeking:
Two Volunteer Tournament Committee Members
These positions involve the following responsibilities:
- Participation in monthly phone calls addressing issues handled by the Tournament Committee in advance of the annual World Series event.
- Position receives no compensation.
- Position requires attendance at 2 in person committee meetings: the spring board meeting in Ames, Iowa April 17th and 18th and the World Series on Sunday, July 26th in conjunction with the board meeting.
- Occasional week day travel for in depth site evaluations of the city for hosting suitability (Visits can be 1 to 3 days in length and often involve another day or more of travel time).
- It can also potentially involve written or verbal interactions with prospective World Series city sites. Evaluation of a city’s host fields, hotels, airport(s) and transportation options during a visit makes familiarity with league and athlete needs extremely helpful.
- Lodging, airfare and onsite transportation are at the expense of the city hosting the site visit and not the individual committee member (2, 3 or more committee members usually attend together).
- Members also are occasionally tasked to attend conference events of vendors seeking to host events. Conferences can be 1 to 4 days duration, but not at the cost of the individual.
- Volunteers should be 18 or older.
- Visually impaired applicants are preferred at this time.
These positions are appointed by Jan Traphagan, NBBA 1ST Vice President and Tournament Committee chair.
